James Pattinson, the Australia fast bowler, has described his first Boxing Day Test as “a dream come true” after he won the Man-of-the-Match award in the 122-run victory over India. Pattinson, 21, was born and raised in Melbourne and regularly attended MCG Tests with his family, and he had plenty of support from his hometown crowd as he collected match figures of 6 for 108.In doing so, he compiled an impressive list of victims, including Virender Sehwag, Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman and MS Dhoni, although he did not manage to claim the prize wicket of Sachin Tendulkar. Asked if his first Boxing Day Test was everything he expected it to be, Pattinson said “and more”.”For me it’s a dream come true to play cricket for Australia,” Pattinson said. “To be out there on Boxing Day and against India, with the batting line-up … I know Sachin … I wasn’t even born when he started playing cricket. To go out there and bowl against him and have some success against their batsmen is just unbelievable. To get a win is even better.”Pattinson showed plenty of aggression against India, who came in to the match with a line-up boasting 53,560 Test runs, an all-time record for a team’s aggregate. He was no-balled for bowling three bouncers in an over during India’s second innings, and although he didn’t pick up a wicket with a bouncer, it proved an effective way to keep the batsmen guessing.”[It was] not really a conscious effort, it’s just the way I play cricket,” Pattinson said. “It’s the way I’ve been brought up. I like to attack, I like to go out there and do my own stuff. It’s not a conscious effort; it’s just the way I play.”It wasn’t just Pattinson’s wickets that contributed to Australia’s victory. In the first innings, he finished unbeaten on 18 and in the second he was not out on 37, one of only four men to reach double figures. In that knock he played some fine strokes, including a couple of searing drives past mid-off against the bowling of Umesh Yadav.His 43-run partnership with Ben Hilfenhaus for the final wicket was vital, as it took India’s target from less than 250 to a not-so-manageable 292. Only once in his five Test innings has he failed to reach double figures, and he knew that his runs at the end of Australia’s batting performance could have been match-deciding.”Nowadays the way cricket is going, you need to be able to bat towards the end. You’ve seen so many valuable partnerships from the last two in many games of cricket. It’s something that I’ve put a big emphasis on in the nets.”It does help. It does put the game back in our favour and the opening batsmen didn’t want to be stuck out there too much longer, which they were. So it was big for us and it’s just good that I can help out with the bat.”

It’s a bit of a trademark for us. We don’t lie down easily. It doesn’t mean you’re always going to win, but you give yourselves a chance.”Because we’re a very close team, you can always expect someone to find something from somewhere. If it doesn’t work at the top, it’s likely to at the bottom. After suffering a back injury last year, the seamer has worked hard during the winter months at remodelling his action to try to become a bigger threat with the red ball.”I had the stress reaction last summer, which is on the way to a stress fracture,” he said. “I haven’t had many injury problems before because I didn’t bowl a great deal as a youngster, so it was frustrating.”I’ve done quite a lot of work on my action this winter to try and get more momentum going towards the batter and through the crease. It’s definitely helped my red-ball cricket. I’m starting to swing the ball a bit more, but I’m not quite there yet, confidence wise. In terms of pace, I’m a little bit behind where I want to be because I haven’t felt confident enough just to let it go yet.”To start the season with my best figures after all the work I’ve done in the winter is a big bonus. Umesh Yadav, the India fast bowler, has said bowling as quick as he can is his priority. He didn’t give slowing down his pace a thought, he said, even when he was injured.”As a fast bowler, I need to have a clear mind about what my priorities are. My strength is to bowl consistently at a good pace and that will always be my aim as long as I play for the national team,” Umesh told . “If I have been selected in the Indian team to play across all formats, it is because I have the sheer pace more than anything else.”While he has impressed for the most part in the nine Tests he has played, Umesh has been troubled by a bad back. During the home Tests against England last November, he was the pick of the quicks in the Ahmedabad Test, but was then ruled out of the rest of the series with a stress reaction in his back. He was out of action till the first week of March, and then played the domestic T20 tournament, the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, and the IPL, where he was one of the only bright sparks in a dismal season for Delhi Daredevils. He was not as effective in the Champions Trophy, though, but will remain a key figure for India as they set out on tours to South Africa and New Zealand in the upcoming season.Returning from injury was a bit tough physically, Umesh said, but did not change his approach to bowling. “Even when I got injured last season, cutting down on pace never ever crossed my mind. Agreed, when you come back, your body asks you a few questions but you should always stick to doing what you do best.”In an era when things are loaded heavily in favour of the batsmen, Umesh said it is important for bowlers to stick to their strengths. “Tell me what new [variation] can a bowler bring to the table apart from what we have seen so far? Whether it is the back-of-the-hand slower delivery or a change in pace, there’s nothing new that the batsmen can’t counter. So it’s more important that we do any one thing consistently.”I have a natural outswinger and if I can bowl four to five of them at 140 kmph plus every over, I would be satisfied with my effort.”

After such a tough start to the season, Arsenal have managed to string three consecutive wins together to push them up the table and ease the pressure on new boss Unai Emery. 

While Liverpool and Chelsea splashed the cash in the transfer window, Arsenal made some very solid purchases without really spending too much money. The Gunners have often visited France to discover the best talents but also in recent years, some of Arsenal’s best acquisitions have come from Spain.

Cesc Fabregas instantly springs to mind as one of the Gunners’ best steals from La Liga while former Malaga players, Nacho Monreal and Santi Cazorla have also arguably been two of the best the club have signed over the last decade.

So with that in mind, here are two players from Spain that Arsenal could try to sign in January.

Mikel Oyarzabal

At only 21, Mikel Oyarzabal has already played 114 games for Real Sociedad and is regarded as one of the best talents in Spain at the moment. Last year in La Liga, the winger scored 12 goals while also grabbing three assists as he established himself as the key man for La Real.

While Arsenal’s transfer business over the summer was largely successful, what the club didn’t sign was a direct winger who can chip in with goals and assists. While he may not have Walcott like pace, Oyarzabal is a very clever winger who is great at taking on players in one on one situations.

Moreover, with his ability to play on either wing, Oyarzabal would be a great addition although it would take a fairly sizeable bid to take him away from Spain.

Carlos Soler

Linked with Manchester United in the past, Carlos Soler has started the season well and grabbed two assists against Levante at the beginning of the month. Despite only being 21, Soler has already established himself as a constant in the Valencia team and could well make the move up to the Spanish first-team this year.

Similar to Koke, Soler has the ability to play in most positions in midfield and so far this season he has primarily played as a right-midfielder. His best position however is a central midfielder who can join in attacks. With Aaron Ramsey yet to sign a new deal at the club, Soler would be a superb replacement to take up that box-to-box role.

Valued at £27 million, signing Soler could be an excellent signing for the Gunners, and one that could help push them back into the Champions League.

Apesar de ter iniciado a vitória sobre o Melgar, do Peru, pela Libertadores, na terça-feira, o goleiro se apresentará à Seleção Brasileira na semana que vem, consequentemente dando chances para Fernando Prass e Jailson se revezarem na meta alviverde contra a Ponte Preta, na quarta-feira, e na ida das quartas de final do Campeonato Paulista, caso o time confirme a classificação.

Marcos Rocha
O lateral-direito foi titular contra o Melgar, na terça-feira, pela Libertadores, e, por isso, Felipão deve manter seu rodízio na posição e dar oportunidade a Mayke. No Choque-Rei do fim do tabu palmeirense no Morumbi, Marcos Rocha se machucou e Mayke entrou em seu lugar, aos 29 minutos do primeiro tempo, sendo decisivo nos gols alviverdes.

Luan
O zagueiro é um dos três desfalques certos para o clássico. Luan sofreu estiramento na coxa esquerda diante do Santos, no último dia 23, e, dentro da programação divulgada pelo Palmeiras, a previsão mais otimista de volta é na semana que vem. Edu Dracena, poupado na terça-feira, deve jogar na vaga.

Gustavo Gómez
O paraguaio foi titular nos três últimos jogos, mas, apesar do desgaste físico, deve completar a quarta partida consecutiva. Gustavo Gómez foi convocado pela seleção e desfalcará o Palmeiras na semana que vem, o que deve fazer com que Felipão o utilize no Choque-Rei antes de dar sequência à dupla Edu Dracena e Antonio Carlos, únicos à disposição.

Victor Luis
Como deve ocorrer com Marcos Rocha, Victor Luis será reserva, provavelmente, por ter atuado integralmente na terça-feira. Diogo Barbosa deve ganhar a oportunidade no Choque-Rei, dentro do rodízio de Scolari.

Felipe Melo
É um dos cinco que foram titulares no último Choque-Rei e devem ser mantidos no time. Felipe Melo iniciou a partida contra o Melgar, na terça-feira, inclusive abrindo o placar da vitória por 3 a 0, mas saiu no fim do jogo e deve ganhar nova chance desde o começo para ser poupado na quarta-feira, contra a Ponte Preta, pela última rodada da primeira fase do Paulista.

Moisés
Era um dos desfalques certos até essa quinta-feira. Moisés foi suspenso pelo Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva de São Paulo por ter se envolvido em confusão com o zagueiro Gustavo Henrique, do Santos, no último dia 23, e cumpriria o jogo de gancho no clássico. Mas o Palmeiras conseguiu efeito suspensivo que libera o camisa 10 até que ocorra um novo julgamento do caso.

Lucas Lima
O meia é o único que foi titular no último Choque-Rei e que deve ficar fora somente por opção, não por conta do rodízio imposto por Felipão. Lucas Lima perdeu espaço com atuações apagadas nesta temporada e Ricardo Goulart deve ganhar a oportunidade de começar seu primeiro clássico como titular com a camisa do Palmeiras.

Hyoran
O meia-atacante é outro dos desfalques certos por um simples motivo: não está inscrito no Campeonato Paulista. Willian, que entrou no seu lugar no último Choque-Rei no Morumbi, está machucado. Gustavo Scarpa vem recebendo aprovações por seu desempenho na função e deve seguir no time.

Dudu
O atacante já tinha sido escalado no último Choque-Rei, apesar do rodízio de Felipão, exatamente por sua importância no elenco, e isso deve se repetir neste fim de semana. Em todos os jogos da temporada, Dudu só não foi titular uma vez, no último sábado, contra o Mirassol, por ser uma partida com curto intervalo entre duas partidas da Libertadores.

Deyverson
Outro dos três desfalques certos. Deyverson voltou a ser titular na terça-feira e fez o gol que fechou o placar da vitória por 3 a 0 sobre o Melgar. Mas, neste sábado, cumpre o último dos seis jogos da suspensão imposta pelo Tribunal de Justiça Desportiva de São Paulo por ter cuspido em Richard, do Corinthians, em 2 de fevereiro. Borja será o centroavante titular no Choque-Rei.

2019: ARRASCAETA DECISIVO

Flamengo e Vasco se enfrentaram duas vezes pelo Campeonato Carioca deste ano: dois empates em 1 a 1. O uruguaio De Arrascaeta foi o autor dos dois gols rubro-negros nos clássicos, um deles, na final da Taça Rio, levou a decisão para os pênaltis, e o time comandado por Abel Braga conquistou o segundo turno.

Nestes jogos, ambos disputados no Estádio do Maracanã, os atacantes Vitor Gabriel, Vitinho. Bruno Henrique e Uribe estiveram em campo, atuando, por pelo menos um momento, como centroavantes, mas não balançaram a rede.

2018: SÓ VINI JR SALVA

Nos três clássicos da última temporada (1 a 1 pelo Brasileirão, 1 a 1 pelo Brasileirão e 0 a 0 pelo Estadual), só o garoto Vinícius Júnior se salvou, marcando o gol no jogo válido pelo primeiro turno do Campeonato Brasileiro. No returno, o zagueiro Luiz Gustavo, do Vasco, marcou contra.

Nas três partidas, os centroavantes Fernando Uribe, Lincoln, Henrique Dourado e Felipe Vizeu estiveram em campo ao menos uma vez e passaram em branco.

2017: GUERRERO E CIA PASSAM EM BRANCO

Paolo Guerrero, Leandro Damião, Felipe Vizeu e até Lucas Paquetá, improvisado, atuaram como camisa 9 do Flamengo nos cinco clássicos com o Vasco na temporada, mas nenhum deles marcou.

No Brasileirão, empate em 0 a 0, no returno, e vitória rubro-negra por 1 a 0 no turno, com gol de Éverton, que hoje está no São Paulo. Ainda tiveram três encontros pelo Carioca: 0 a 0, 2 a 2 – gols de Berrío e Arão – e 1 a 0 – gol de Diego.

2016: DERROTAS NO ESTADUAL

Com o rival na Série B, o Flamengo só enfrentou o Vasco, em 2016, pelo Estadual. E o Cruz-Maltino levou a melhor: duas vitórias (1 a 0 e 2 a 0) e um empate em 1 a 1, quando o Rubro-Negro, comandado por Muricy Ramalho, marcou com Marcelo Cirino, que saiu do banco e atuou pelo lado de campo – Guerrero foi o camisa 9 neste jogo.

Além do peruano, Emerson Sheik, Ederson e Felipe Vizeu defenderam o Flamengo no Clássico dos Milhões em 2016 e não conseguiram balançar a rede adversária.

2015: ALECGOL FAZ DOIS NO CLÁSSICO DA CHUVA

O desempenho ofensivo do Flamengo diante do Vasco foi péssimo – quatro gols marcados em sete clássicos -, mas Alecsandro se salvou e fez dois gols na única vitória rubro-negra sobre o rival no ano: 2 a 1 pelo Estadual, em jogo marcado pela chuva que caiu no Maracanã.

Foi o último jogador a vestir a camisa 9 do Flamengo e marcar contra o Vasco. Ainda em 2015, Emerson Sheik fez um gol contra o Cruz-Maltino, em derrota por 2 a 1 no Brasileirão, atuando ao lado de Guerrero. O lateral-direito do Vasco Madson, contra, fez o quarto gol do Fla na conta.

India will tour Zimbabwe for a series of five one-dayers starting July 24 and ending on August 3, the BCCI has confirmed. It will be India’s next international assignment after their tri-series in the West Indies that concludes on July 11.The first three one-dayers will be played in Harare, with the last two in Bulawayo. India had confirmed their tour following a BCCI working committee meeting earlier this month. The trip had earlier been put on hold, with the board citing the ‘fatigue factor.’ It is uncertain at this stage if the selectors will stick to a full-strength squad.When India last went to Zimbabwe, in 2010, Suresh Raina captained a young side, and didn’t make it to the final of the one-day tri-series.

وتحدث موسيماني في حواره مع اتحاد الصحفيين في جنوب إفريقيا ونقلت شبكة “جول” العالمية التصريحات: “كان هذا أضعف فريق للوداد قد رأيته في السنوات الخمس الماضية، لم يكن الذي لعبنا معه حينما كنت مع الأهلي”.

وتابع: “كان يجب على صن داونز الفوز على الوداد، خاصة بعدما حافظوا على نظافة شباكهم في المغرب، توقعت الفوز في جنوب إفريقيا، لكن لم يحدث ذلك، كان يجب عليهم أن يكونوا أكثر صرامة وجدية للتأهل إلى النهائي”.

وواصل تصريحاته: “يتطلب الأمر أكثر من مجرد امتلاك اللاعبين الموهبة، يجب أن يكون هناك نضج وخبرة بين اللاعبين والمدربين”.

واستمر: “كيف تأهل إنتر ميلان إلى نهائي دوري أبطال أوروبا؟ لقد توقعنا باريس سان جيرمان أو بايرن ميونخ، لكن الأمر لا يتعلق بمدى أدائك الرائع، إنه يتعلق بالقرارات الصحيحة في الوقت المناسب”.
