West Bromwich Albion have been linked with a move for Blackpool striker Jerry Yates, as reported by The72.

Enjoying a fantastic 2020/21 season, the 24-year-old played a major role in the Seasiders’ successful Sky Bet League One promotion bid as he registered 32 goal contributions from 54 games in all competitions; 23 goals and nine assists [Transfermarkt].

Bristol City, Blackburn Rovers and Nottingham Forest are all also said to be keen on the striker, who could be available for around £5million to potential suitors [The Sun].

Yates has averaged around 1.9 shots per every 90 minutes across the last year, demonstrating his willingness to regularly propel himself to the forefront of attacking play [WhoScored].

Dois gringos e somente uma vaga. O atacante Orlando Berrío foi apresentado na terça-feira e já iniciou sua luta para buscar espaço no time titular do Flamengo. A saída de David Neres deixou uma lacuna aberta no São Paulo e pode ser preenchida por outro atleta das categorias de base. De férias após a disputa da Copa São Paulo de Futebol Júnior, o atacante Caíque é cotado para ser alçado ao profissional tão logo retome suas atividades no Tricolor. Dos jovens, ele é o favorito para ocupar o lugar de Neres no elenco do técnico Rogério Ceni.

Pelas características, Caíque aparece como opção caso o São Paulo não consiga agora o retorno do atacante Rogério, que está emprestado ao Sport até maio. O técnico Rogério Ceni já disse que pretende contar com pelo menos dois pontas para cado lado. No momento, estão Neilton, Wellington Nem e Luiz Araújo, excetuando os jogadores que, por ventura, podem fazer a função, casos de Cueva, Wesley e Chavez.

Caíque, de 19 anos, atua justamente pelas beiradas com características de ponta. É canhoto, mas prefere jogar pelo lado direito, como Neres. É um dos mais experientes do time Sub-20. Tem 10 anos de São Paulo e terminou 2016 como o terceiro artilheiro do time multicampeão, com 13 gols em 16 jogos. Ele só foi superado por Shaylon, já promovido ao elenco principal, e Pedro, que fez parte do elenco ano passado – cada um marcou 23 vezes. Ceni bate sempre na tecla de que é preciso dar espaço aos garotos e no fato de 50% do time atual ser formado por jogadores de Cotia.

O jovem atualmente é atacante, mas nem sempre foi assim. Até o ano passado, ele atuava como lateral-esquerdo. No entanto, André Jardine, comandante do Sub-20, viu que ele tinha mais potencial para jogar na linha ofensiva, devido à dificuldade na marcação. Agora, pode ganhar um lugar entre os escolhidos de Ceni.

Vale lembrar que o São Paulo só poderá inscrever 28 jogadores no Campeonato Paulista, enquanto possui 31 jogadores no seu elenco. O clube enviou na última quinta-feira uma relação com 23 nomes.

Leeds United could sign Marcelo Bielsa’s dream player in Napoli and North Macedonia midfielder Eljif Elmas.

What’s the story?

In a piece written by The Athletic, they said: “With a contract until 2025 it’s likely to take an offer in excess of the €17m plus add-ons that the Italians paid Fenerbahce in 2019.

“Over the last 12 months Leeds, Benfica and Borussia Dortmund are understood to have shown an interest in a mixture of loan or permanent deals for Elmas — who doesn’t have a release clause in his contract — but others have him on their radar too.”

Bielsa’s dream player

When you think of the kind of player Bielsa would love, you think of words like intensity, hard work and selflessness – not to mention the technical ability to go along with those attributes too.

And in the 21-year-old Elmas, Victor Orta could find exactly that.

His head coach at the international level, Igor Angelovski, has spoken highly of the kind of mix of physical and technical quality that he possesses and even tipped him to become a great player.

He said: “Elmas is a good guy and a very strong player. He has physique, technical skills, he is fast, ball to foot, but above all, he is fast with the mind and has a very strong character. He was born to become a great player and will become one of the best…The boy has the characteristics to work on himself and become stronger and stronger.”

Meanwhile, his agent added: “I think Napoli have a jewel. A young footballer, a leader of his national team who often scores goals.”

Even at 21, Elmas has already built up considerable experience playing for Napoli and will also be a part of North Macedonia’s squad for the upcoming EUROs along with Leeds man Gjanni Alioski.

And, in a ‘one to watch’ profile done by ESPN ahead of the tournament that starts on Friday, it said: “Despite his young age, Elmas has already accumulated 27 senior caps for his country and is comfortable playing either as an inverted winger or central attacking midfielder. A strong-running midfielder, capable with either foot, he’s skilled at making purposeful runs into the box and is a fine finisher when he gets on the end of crosses or picks up loose balls. He scored the winner in the famous 2-1 victory against Germany in March.”

Given his ability to play in a number of positions across midfield, and the fact he appears to be someone who puts the team first with his hard running, Orta could land a dream signing for Bielsa.

News has emerged on Sheffield Wednesday’s transfer plans this summer, regarding Swindon Town’s Akin Odimayo.

What’s the talk?

According to Football League World, Sheffield Wednesday are set to step up their pursuit of Swindon Town centre-back Akin Odimayo this summer. Darren Moore wants to add the young defender to his squad as he attempts to build a team capable of securing promotion out of League One next season.

The report claims that Wednesday will need to fight off competition from their League One rivals Doncaster for his signature. Odimayo is out of contract at the end of the month and could be available on a free transfer, although Swindon are in the process of attempting to pin him down to an extension.

Odimayo was named Swindon Town’s Player of the Year for the 2020/21 campaign and was asked about his future upon receiving the award. He told the Swindon Advertiser:

“I don’t really know where my future lies, but if I do stay at Swindon, I’d continue to give it 100 per cent.”

Moore will love it

Moore will love it if Dejphon Chansiri is able to get this deal done. Chansiri must complete a swoop for Odimayo and make sure that he is in Moore’s squad come the start of next season to bolster his options at the back, with three centre-backs poised to depart from Hillsborough.

Tom Lees is set to leave the club at the end of the month and Julian Borner is reportedly closing in on a move to German side Hannover. Young centre-back Osaze Urhoghide has also rejected a contract extension with the club and looks to be leaving next month.

This means that Moore is in desperate need of reinforcements in the centre-back position. Therefore, Chansiri needs to get a deal for Odimayo over the line to make sure that his manager is not left short-handed.

Odimayo played 30 games in League One for Swindon and was, as previously mentioned, named as their Player of the Year. This shows that he knows how to perform at League One and that he could have the potential to be a key player for Wednesday.

The £1.5k-per-week prospect is not the finished article. Odimayo has only played one season of senior football in the EFL and still has room to improve at the age of 21. He is not a player who is likely to come in and consistently produce top-quality performances, as he averaged a WhoScored rating of 6.51 at centre-back for Swindon, but he could develop into a player who could do that with Moore’s coaching.

Odimayo has shown that he is capable of brilliant displays at League One level. He recorded two WhoScored ratings of 7.04 or higher in his last four appearances for Swindon but scored 6.28 or lower in the other two.

If Moore can iron out the inconsistencies in Odimayo’s game then he could turn into a quality addition for Wednesday in the future, which is why the former West Brom boss will be excited by this signing if Chansiri can get it done.

Desde a quarta-feira, primeiro dia da pausa, os jogadores iniciaram as suas preparações físicas individuais e têm utilizado principalmente os stories do Instagram para publicá-las, iniciativa que tem aproximado os torcedores da rotina diária dos atletas. Até o momento, Alex, Luan Peres, Felipe Jonatan, Sandry, Arthur Gomes, Marinho, Kaio Jorge, Marcos Leonardo e Yuri Alberto aderiram a moda. A maioria têm publicado vídeos rápidos com trechos do treinamento, geralmente acompanhados de alguma música.

Marinho, em fase final de recuperação de uma entorse no tornozelo esquerdo, tem alternado as atividades em casa com idas ao Departamento Médico do Santos, único setor que o clube manteve aberto durante a quarentena. Já Sandry, também demonstra jornada dupla, tanto em atividades individuais, quanto em dupla, com o atacante da base Marcos Leonardo. Yuri Alberto transmitiu ao vivo durante uma hora o seu treinamento ministrado pelo preparador físico Gustavo Jorge, na última quinta-feira.

O Santos definiu um prazo de 20 dias para a suspensão das atividades, mas pode prorrogá-lo devido as condições da pandemia e coronavírus. O Campeonato Paulista foi paralisado por tempo indeterminado e a Copa Libertadores da América tem previsão de retorno no dia 5 de maio.

Talks between Everton and Paris Saint-Germain over striker Moise Kean are ‘stalling’ amid the managerial uncertainty at Goodison Park.

That’s according to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Carlo Ancelotti departed the club last week to return to Real Madrid, leaving Everton without a boss on the eve of the summer transfer window.

A new boss may conceivably try to persuade Kean to remain on Merseyside rather than returning to the French capital, where he spent the 2020/21 season on loan.

No surprise that PSG would like Kean back

Kean finished the campaign as PSG’s second-highest scorer with 16 goals in 35 appearances, netting every 134 minutes on average (via BBC Sport).

Only Kylian Mbappe (31) scored more for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, who finished second in Ligue 1 behind Lille.

PSG are said to be in talks with Everton over another loan move rather than a permanent deal for the striker.

The Toffees paid an initial £21.5million to sign Kean in 2019, and he still has three years left on his contract (via BBC Sport).

Durante a etapa inicial tanto Pituca, quanto Soteldo, participaram ativamente dos lances ofensivos do Peixe. O meia abriu o placar para o Peixe logo aos três muntos de partida e o venezuelano construiu os principais lances de perigo da equipe santista no jogo. Curiosamente, os dois jogadores atuaram pelo mesmo setor, o esquerdo, durante a maior parte da partida.
