واستطاع منتخب مصر أن يهزم الكاميرون بركلات الترجيح ليصعد لمواجهة السنغال في نهائي كأس الأمم الإفريقية.

ودون الحساب الرسمي للرئيس السيسي على “تويتر”: “أتوجه بخالص التهنئة لكل المصريين بعد صعود منتخبنا الوطني لكرة القدم إلى المباراة النهائية بكأس الأمم الإفريقية”.

Jose Mourinho was sacked by Tottenham on Monday morning, three days on from their 2-2 draw at Everton.

Harry Kane scored 20 minutes from time to secure a point for Spurs after Gylfi Sigurdsson’s double. It’s a result which leaves Spurs five points adrift of the top four and only one clear of eighth-placed Everton, who have a game in hand.

A sequence of one win in six matches in all competitions spelled the end for three-time Premier League winner Mourinho.

Ancelotti, Moyes, Rodgers… now Mourinho

BBC Sport’s Phil McNulty made an intriguing observation after the news broke. He noted that three other big-name managers had been sacked after failing to win at Goodison Park.

Current Everton boss Ancelotti was dismissed by Chelsea after a 1-0 defeat on Merseyside on the final day of the 2010/11 season. Former Toffees manager David Moyes also saw his Manchester United tenure come to an end in April 2014 after an unhappy return. Eighteen months later, a 1-1 Merseyside derby draw was the last straw for Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool.

This led McNulty to label Goodison Park ‘a bit of a graveyard for managers’.

Some Everton supporters felt that reflected badly on the club, whereas others took it more positively. One pointed to the similar example of Leicester, who inflicted decisive losses on both Mourinho and Frank Lampard at Chelsea.

In other news, Everton are at risk of losing one player as update emerges from transfer insider.

Barry Fry has exclusively told Football FanCast that Peterborough are expecting bids for reported target for Scottish giants Rangers, Jonson Clarke-Harris, this summer.

Clarke-Harris only joined Posh last summer, but has performed goalscoring heroics at London Road this season to put Peterborough on course to end their eight-year wait to return to the Championship.

The former Bristol Rovers man has scored seven goals in his last seven, taking his total to the campaign for 29 in League One, four ahead of his closest rival, Charlie Wyke, in the race for the Golden Boot.

Clarke-Harris has previously played in the Championship with Rotherham, and Fry confirmed that four second-tier sides tried to sign the Posh striker in January.

But with Peterborough well-placed in the thick of a promotion race, they rejected all offers, although recent reports believe that the 26-year-old could be lined up as a replacement for Alfredo Morelos at Rangers, with recently relegated Sheffield United also keen.

Peterborough’s Director of Football told Football FanCast:

“He’s got 29 goals this year. He’s been magnificent leading the line, and he’s done exactly what we thought he would do and long may it continue.

“There was a lot of interest in him in January, four clubs in the Championship came in for him, but we turned them all down. You don’t sell your best players in January if you want to go up. There will be further interest in the summer, depending on what league we are, but we will get a lot of offers.

“He deserves to be at a bigger club and if he was at a bigger club he would score the goals he scored this year because he’s a goalscorer.”

وقال كوكي في تصريحات نشرتها صحيفة “ماركا” الإسبانية: “أنا متأكد من أن الأمر سيكون صعبًا كما يحدث دائمًا لنا”.

وأضاف: “ولكن دعونا نأمل أن نحظى بمباراة جيدة، فقد أعطانا الفوز أمام فالنسيا دافعًا ونأمل أن نواصل ذلك، مع المفاتيح التي سيعطيها لنا المدرب والرغبة، يمكننا أن نؤذي برشلونة”.

وتابع: “هناك الكثير من المباريات المتبقية في الدوري، بدأنا فبراير ويمكن أن يحدث أي شيء، الموسم الماضي، انظر كيف كنا وكاد ريال مدريد يلحق بنا، كانت الليجا متكافئة للغاية، كل شيء متكافئ للغاية ويمكن أن يحدث أي شيء”.

وعن تراجع مستوى الفريق، أفاد: “الأمر أكثر من مجرد استرخاء، الأمور في بعض الأحيان لا تسير على ما يرام بغض النظر عن مدى صعوبة المحاولة أو العمل”.

وشدد: “علينا تغيير هذه الديناميكية، بدءًا مما رأيناه في يوم فالنسيا، حيث ذهبنا إلى مباراة في الشوط الثاني، لقد أظهرنا أنه إذا قمنا بعملنا بشكل جيد يمكننا الفوز بالعديد من المباريات”.

وبشأن الانتقادات التي توجه له وللفريق، استطرد: “في كثير من الأحيان لا أقرأ النقد أو المديح، أنا أركز على مساعدة الفريق، وجعلهم يلعبون ويدافعون عندما يحين الوقت، الفوز وهو أهم شيء، أنا لا أتوقف عند أي شيء آخر غير العمل”.

وعن زميله لويس سواريز وتراجع سجله التهديفي، أوضح: “إنه يحاول أن يفعل كل ما يقوله له المدرب، وما يحتاجه الفريق ومثل أي شخص آخر، أحيانًا تعمل الأمور لصالحه وأحيانًا لا، إنها ديناميكيات الفريق وهو هادئ، بالتأكيد سيسجل الأهداف، وهو أفضل ما يفعله”.

وحول الصفقات الجديدة لأتلتيكو مدريد، علّق: “لقد تكيفوا جيدًا، لدينا فريق جيد جدًا، مكون من أشخاص جيدين للغاية وقد تكيفوا جيدًا، كان دانيال في الليجا لسنوات عديدة ويجب مساعدة رينيلدو لأنه سيكون أفضل بكثير للجميع”.

وفيما يتعلق بشغف مدربه دييجو سيميوني بكرة القدم، أكد: “من لا يعرفه ولا يراه على أساس يومي ربما لم ير الجانب الإنساني الذي لديه، لكنه يعيش كل جلسة تدريبية كما تراه على مقاعد البدلاء هذا هو”.

ووجه كوكي رسالة لسيميوني: “لماذا لا يمكن أن يكون فيرجسون لـ أتلتيكو مدريد؟ لديه الكثير من الطاقة وهذه الرسالة التي تستمر في الوصول إلى الناس مهمة للغاية”.

بشأن العودة إلى كامب نو أفاد كوكي: “لن تنسى أبدًا المكان الذي ستظهر فيه لأول مرة، في أحد أفضل الملاعب في العالم وضد فريق عظيم مثل برشلونة من الرائع دائمًا العودة ونأمل أن نحقق الفوز”.

Carlo Ancelotti cannot stand in Joshua King’s way of sealing a transfer to Galatasaray this summer, as the Turkish giants reportedly plot an eye-watering offer for the Everton striker.

What’s the word?

According to Football Insider, Galatasaray are prepared to offer King a huge payday in hopes of enticing the Norwegian to the Super Lig.

King is currently set to leave Goodison Park at the end of the season with Everton expected to release the 29-year-old when his contract expires in June.

Ancelotti has not seen enough from the former Bournemouth forward to believe he is worth keeping on, despite the Toffees having the option to seal a longer-term deal.

King’s impending status as a free agent has now put Galatasaray chiefs on alert, as they look to add a star forward to Fatih Terim’s plans.

The 54-cap international has been deprived of a regular role on Merseyside since his last-gasp arrival on Deadline Day of the winter market, with Ancelotti awarding King all eight of his appearances from the bench.

Galatasaray would be expected to afford the £9m-rated attacker a more prominent role, with the Turk Telekom Stadium natives tipped to offer King a long-term contract with a lucrative salary in order to secure his signature.

King has previously been linked with Cimbom’s Istanbul rivals Fenerbahce after they held discussions with his agent, while Celtic have been touted as a potential destination should they appoint Eddie Howe as their new manager.

Should Everton let King join Galatasaray?

Whether or not King is willing to join Galatasaray given his alleged prior connections with Fenerbahce remains to be seen, but Ancelotti cannot develop cold feet over letting the striker leave Everton this summer.

King has proven to be an absolute flop since his arrival at Goodison Park and will have cost the Toffees £3m by the time his contract expires, having paid Bournemouth £2m to take over the final 21 weeks of his £45,000-per-week deal.

Everton have seen no return for their investment thus far with King failing to score in any of his eight appearances, which total a mere 118 minutes, having yet taken a single shot or offer a key pass in royal blue, per WhoScored.

The only players to have featured as or more often under Ancelotti in the Premier League this term and to have also failed to register a single shot are goalkeepers Jordan Pickford and Robin Olsen, with even left-back Niels Nkounkou attempting an effort during his sole 69-minute appearance.

King’s struggles have seen his spell at Goodison Park be described as “disappointing” by the Liverpool Echo’s Connor O’Neill, who notes Ancelotti has overlooked the former Manchester United trainee in recent games due to a shift in tactics.

Injury ruled King out of Everton’s draw with Brighton & Hove Albion on Monday night but he is expected to be fit for Friday’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur. And it will be telling to see how frequently he features over the final eight games of the top-flight campaign, or if an exit is what’s best for all.

What’s the word?

It’s thought that RB Leipzig gem Julian Nagelsmann is Spurs’ top target to succeed Mourinho in north London, according to the Telegraph’s Matt Law, should Levy pull the trigger on the Portuguese boss before next season.

Earlier this week, the chances of that happening quickly appeared slim after Germany and Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthaus claimed he is the no.1 candidate to replace Hansi Flick at the Allianz Arena.

“Munich have already chatted a bit with Nagelsmann, including about financial matters,” Matthaus told Sky Germany.

However, this is something the 33-year-old has denied in a recent press conference, via ESPN, which will now come as a huge boost to Levy and Spurs.

“There have been no talks and we are currently in no talks,” revealed Nagelsmann ahead of Leipzig’s clash with Ryan Sessegnon’s Hoffenheim. “The country needs new sources. I don’t know where he got his info from.”

Levy will be delighted

This will surely delight Levy as further claims from Italian journalist Nicolo Schira this week suggest that the Leipzig guru has already been contacted by Spurs in recent weeks.

Mourinho’s tenure in north London has quickly turned sour – at one stage back in early December, they were leading the Premier League but now hopes of reaching the top four seem all but over, whilst they have also crashed out of the Europa League and FA Cup.

Only a Carabao Cup final showdown with runaway league leaders Manchester City could save him his job.

Pressure has certainly started to mount on the former Chelsea boss and he is on the verge of losing the dressing room, very much following a trend at every club he’s been at, after his recent “same manager, different players” response, some of the squad couldn’t quite believe it. It created even more unease, more grounds for complaint, according to the Independent’s Miguel Delaney.

Now that Bayern do not appear to be in talks with Nagelsmann at all, Levy surely has a free run at clinching his top target this summer.

All could depend on that final at the end of the month, but it would certainly be a surprise to see Mourinho in the dugout next season, particularly as they seemed destined to miss out on a Champions League place once again.

Nagelsmann, who has been dubbed a “great coaching talent” and a leader, would be an interesting successor.

This fresh update will surely be music to Levy’s ears.

– É uma opção (risos). É um jogador leve, que chega com facilidade no terço final (do campo). A gente ganha aí. Caso ele jogue, tem um bom cruzamento, acho que é a arma mais forte do Alemão – analisa o técnico Jair Ventura.
